ACRO: Tumbling, passes, flexibility/gymnastics skills. Must also contain 50% dance choreography.
BALLET: Ballet technique, classical steps and variations. Ballet shoes only, no pointe shoes allowed.
CHARACTER: Recognizable character in any category style. (Not a character from a musical).
CONTEMPORARY: A combination of lyrical, jazz and modern movements.
HIP-HOP: A mix of street, old school, commercial hip hop styles..
JAZZ: Consists of jazz technique.
LYRICAL: Blend of Jazz/Ballet Technique that matches the tone and mood of the song.
MODERN: Interpretive movement using Graham, Limon, Cunningham, and/or Horton technique.
MONOLOGUE: A spoken scene from a show or written work. Can be comedic, dramatic, or any style. One Microphone will be provided.
MUSICAL THEATER: Routine that represents a Broadway Show or Musical.
OPEN: All other entries including Clogging, Ethnic (Folkloric), or any combination of styles.
POINTE: Pointe technique. 50% must be on pointe. This is in the LEGEND LEVEL.
POM: Performers carry pom poms or have hands in closed fist positions for 50% of routine.
SONG & DANCE: Singing while dancing to any type of song. The track can not have any lead vocals on it. One handheld wireless microphone will be provided.
(A studio must have permission to bring their own mics ahead of competition)
TAP: Routine utilizing tap technique. No tap sounds in the music are allowed.
VOCAL: A performer sings without any lead vocals in the music track. Dance is not necessary.
*Judges have the right to move any routine to another category that they deem better fit.
LEGEND National Dance Competition offers 3 Levels of Competition
Levels are determined by skill and choreography in their routine. This way dancers are not labeled a specific level depending on how many hours they dance overall each week. This way if a dancer is more advanced in Jazz or Lyrical and more intermediate in Acro or Tap, they can get the most out of competition and perform to their strengths in each category they dance in.
**ROUTINES ARE ALLOWED UP TO 2 MOVES IN THE NEXT LEVEL BEFORE NEEDING TO BE BUMPED UP.
(EX. CELEBRITIES MAY BE ALOUD TO ADD ILLUSIONS & A SURPRISE LEAP, BUT IF THERES A 3RD SKILL FROM THE NEXT LEVEL BRACKET THEY MUST BE BUMPED UP TO ICON.**

The Title Competition is designed for performers who want the Professional Entertainment Audition Experience! They will start out by speaking on the mic slating their name, age and what solo they will be performing. Then they will receive a question from our judges and their answer will be part of their overall scoring. Next they will perform their prepared solo. After all the soloist perform, they will all come back on stage and perform in our SOLO IMPROVE BATTLE!

All performers entered in the title competition will receive a Tiara or LEGEND Lid Hat.
The LEGEND TITLE WINNERS will be sashed, crowned and receive a beautiful trophy.
LEGEND National Dance Competition values all the studio owners, teachers and studio staff that attend our competition! At each event, we invite you to enjoy our VIP Teacher Lounge stocked with Food & Drinks. We understand that competition weekends are very busy, so we will supply the VIP room with Snacks for your enjoyment.
We also have VIP Seating sectioned off studios owners & dance teachers
to watch their routines from the best seats in the house!
Selected dances will be invited to re-perform in our LEGENDARY DANCE OFF FINALS.
The Finals are separated by each level, Celebrity - Icon - Legend for a Runner Up & Champion

Props are to be brought on/off by the performers.

Any Set/Scenery may be set up in under 2mins by studio staff and must clean the stage after.

All Props must be labeled with the studios name on it.

Backstage managers must be aware of all props at the top of that session.

For the safety of our performers, PROPS can NOT be built backstage.

NO oversized props, dancers can not stand above 8 feet above the stage floor.

NO liquids (water, bubbles, paint, etc), Powders, Glitter, Confetti or Fog are permitted on stage.

NO GLASS of any kind.

NO live animals are permitted on stage.

LEGEND reserves the right to refuse any prop they feel goes against our safety rules. If you are concerned about a prop you plan on bringing, please CONTACT US 2 weeks before the competition.

All Music must be uploaded at least 1 week prior to competition.

Label all your songs with your routine # and Title of the song. (Ex. "154- Dem Beats")

Bring a back up flash drive or iPad, that is labeled with your studio name, with all your studios music.

Make sure all music is edited and clean, deductions or disqualification may occur if your music does not aline with our Family-Friendly Environment.
LEGEND NATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION is proud to supply FREE MEDIA for our competitors. All performers will be able to watch their dance routines online. All photos and videos supplied by DanceBUG is presented in High Definition.
Photography and Video recording from any media devices (i.e. digital cameras, cell phones, etc) is strictly prohibited. This is to enforce the children’s safety and privacy, as well as protecting the work of the choreographers. Any spectator caught filming will be asked to leave the event.
LEGEND is proud to offer FREE Professional Photos & Videos at each event. By registering for our competition, you grant permission to LEGEND National Dance Competition to use any/all media material from our events for promotion purposes including the following but not limited too; program photos, website material, social media posts, ads, television, film broadcasts, etc.

LEGEND NATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION reserves the right to refuse entry of any studio.

Deposits and Competition Fees are Non-refundable. Any cancelations to entries will result in a loss of Deposit and Competitions Fees.

Any changes to the schedule, routines, levels or music the day of the event, will result in a $10 Administrator Fee per change.
-
Returned checks to the bank will occur a $50 fee.
-
Besides a technical difficulty on our end, performers who chose to re-compete, may for adjudication only.

Dance Studios may apply their own administrative fees.
